Bennett sprints back for Bora Hansgrohe - Shane Archbold
Already from 2013 to 2019, Bennett drove for the equipe from the Bavarian Raubling and its predecessor teams. But then the paths separated, the past two seasons joined the IRE for the Belgian team Decuninck-Quickstep in the pedals. Now the 30-year-old returns to Bora-Hansgrohe.
"We have clear targets with Sam and I am confident that he can drive many victories with our support in the coming years," said Team Manager Ralph Denk. It is no secret that the departure of Bennett "was very safe at that time," the official added. Bennett signed a contract at Bora-Hansgrohe for two years to the end of 2023.
"Even if some doubts like, for me it is the absolutely right decision to return to Bora-Hansgrohe," said Bennett. After all, he can help the legitimate hope to become the Sprinter number one after the disposals of the three-time world champion Peter Sagan and the German Top Sprinter Pascal Ackermann. "I'm ready to take over a leadership role and will do everything for the team to drive victories," Bennett said. He belongs to those drivers who could celebrate stage victories at all three major state tours Giro, Tour and Vuelta. In 2020 he brought the green jersey as the best Sprinter in France.
Three new drivers for Bennetts "Sprintzug"
In order to support Bennett with his victory project, Bora-Hansgrohe also has three new drivers for the "sprinting" committed to Bennett: Danny Van Poppel, Shane Archbold and Ryan Mullen will in future act as an engineering for Bennett at sprints. The Irel Mullen comes from Trek-SegaFredo, the Dutch Danny Van Poppel of Intermarch-Wantygiggobert and the New Zealand Shane Archbold like Bennett by Decuninck-Quickstep.
