Rod world recorder Armand Duplinis brings with power demonstration gold
The Swedish high-flyer Armand Duplinis has won in Tokyo Olympia Gold in Staffrung and thus continues his fabulous success story. The only 21-year-old world recorder triumphs on Tuesday at 6.02 m in front of the American Christopher Nielsen (5.97). Bronze went to Rio Olympic Champion Thiago Braz from Brazil (5.87).
In a power demonstration equal, "Mondo" only needed five jumps until he had gold. 5.55 - 5.80 - 5.92 - 5.97 - 6,02: All heights he mastered in the first attempt. At the world record height of 6.19 m Duplinis finally failed three times. In the first attempt he tore the lath in the downward movement breast-thin with the chest. As a result, Braz retains its Olympic Card of 6.03 m.
Duplinis, born in the USA son of an American father and a Swedish mother, had become European champion in Berlin in 2018 in 2018, a year later he missed the World Cup title in Doha and brought silver. The early starter could shape an era as it did not succeed even the legendary Sergei Bubka.
Almost all major top brands have already secured Duplinis. 2020, he first jumped in the hall 6.18 m, which is also conducted as a general world record. In the summer, he improved the outdoor bottom of the Great Sergej Bubka for a centimeter to 6.15 - but that does not apply to the World Association as an independent world record.
Disappointment for German Staff High Springer
London Olympic champion Renaud Lavillia (France), Duplantis' predecessor as a world recorder, came in Tokyo with 5.70 m not sleep seven. World Champion Sam Kendricks (USA) had been positively tested in Tokyo on Corona and therefore not at the start.
The German rod high sprters experienced a disappointment. The German champion Oleg Zernikel (Landau) and the World Cup fourth Bo Kanda Lita Baehre (Leverkusen) did not come out of 5.70 m and occupied the places nine and eleven.
